just a flesh wound!

the gilmer kids have a knack for collecting profusely bleeding head wounds. first it was grant falling on the corner of the metlox fountain (ambulance ride, stitches in forehead), then it was paige falling off the kingston's wall (ambulance ride, bandages on side of head), then it was grant falling backwards onto a fence bolt (trip to ER, glue on back of head), then paige running into the corner of our kitchen cabinets (trip to ER, glue on forehead). last night it was paige twirling herself around in the curtains, losing her balance, and falling head first onto the corner of our dining room bench. BANG - scream - bleeding hole about an inch above her ear. 6 months ago i would've rushed her to the ER (and had the cut been on her face i certainly would've taken her in)...but it was dinnertime, and at this point i'm so seasoned in bleeding scalps that i just sprayed some bactine on it and pressed it for awhile with a cotton ball til it stopped bleeding. i kept thinking about monty python's "oh - it's just a flesh wound!" skit. it's certainly not our first and i'm sure it will not be our last!
