grant's got weird taste

grant didn't eat any of his lunch at school yesterday so was "starvin'" by the time he got home. i had just prepared pasta for paige - want that? no. crackers and cheese and pears? nope. chicken nuggets? no way, jose.

what'd he ask for? a blueberry bagel with apricot jelly and...salami.

and he ate the whole thing with a smile.

i don't get it. i can make him a delicious, nutritious dinner of marinated chicken breast, garlic spinach, rice...and it's like pulling teeth getting him to eat it. but slap some salami and apricot jelly on a blueberry bagel and he's in heaven.

which reminds me: last week paige was being cuddled on the couch with a warm milk baba and her favorite "goodnight moon" video on tv. i commented, "oh, paige, you're in heaven right now." grant asked, "mom, what's heaven?" i answered, "well, in this case, i just meant that she's so happy and content. being in heaven is being totally happy." so later that day he's walking through the house holding paige's hand and he says, "mom, we're in heaven right now." what a cutie.
