first day report card

paige was happy and smiling when i picked her up from school today! she was also super sassy, as if this newfound independence officially made her a big enough girl that she could talk back to mommy the entire ride home (and most of the afternoon).

"paige, let's go out to the car..."
"NO!"
"paige, it's time to go. get your lunchbag. stop throwing your lunchbag into the air."
"NO!" [tosses lunchbag into the air.]
"paige, please don't take your shoes off in the car because they're full of sand. we'll dump them when we get home." [looks me in the eye, unstraps her shoes and dumps them in the car.]
"paige, did you have a fun day at school today?"
"NO!"
"did you sit at the table with your friends and eat your lunch?"
"NO!"
"yes you did - teacher katie took a picture of you eating lunch with your friends."
"NO!"

well, despite what paige says, she had a great day. per teacher katie's daily report card, paige was "talkative, helpful, happy and busy. she only ate her goldfish crackers and strawberries at lunch. she had a lot of fun outside and playing with the doll house, and she loved storytime - though she kept getting up and pointing things out in the book and i had to keep telling her to sit down with the rest of the class."
