we are alive

i really have no good excuse for the lack of posts!

here's a probably pretty boring update:

- greg and i spent a long, lovely weekend in phoenix for his firm's semi-annual partnership meeting. many thanks to oma, opa, tante meike and uncle blake for taking such great care of the kiddos so that mama and daddy could schmooze with the partners at a 5-star resort. what fun to be kid-free for 4 days...and what fun to come home to them! it was also such a treat to discover that a lot of the people that greg works with are actually cool.

- paige is almost home free on the whole torticollis thing! we took her to PT this past saturday and our gal said we just need to keep stretching her 2 months beyond walking - but we no longer need to bring her in every month. hooray!

- grant is learning more and more everyday, and is so much fun to spend time with. it's like a light switched on in his brain - suddenly he can draw real things (faces with glasses and hair, hammerhead sharks), write his name (although the G, R, A, N and T are in random places on the page), hold his pencil the right way, spout off all sorts of interesting facts ("mom, i'm building the USS Kittyhawk with my blocks. do you know what the USS Kittyhawk is? it's a HUGE aircraft carrier out in the ocean"), play soccer with aplomb, hit overhead-pitched baseballs over our neighbor's 10-foot hedge, dress himself, undress himself, help carry in the groceries, say please, thank you, and no thank you (although i'm not a huge fan of him saying "no thank you" when i ask him to clean up his room)...he's like a full-on kid now. it's awesome. he even had a slumber party over at uncle jonny's house on friday night, and didn't need to call home once to say he missed us. and he sat through an hour-long performance of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" today without getting antsy and annoying. he actually ENJOYED it. it was awesome. he's awesome. everything's awesome.

- miss paigey-paige continues to be the cutest thing ever. she just learned to walk around the house with her walker and is just so darned pleased with herself and her new perspective on the world.

- i'm still looking for a job and have found some great leads...but all for full-time positions. not my thing at this point. so i'll continue to freelance here and there and enjoy my time with the little ones. speaking of freelancing, i recently wrote the copy for our friend lori's website. you may remember my glowing write-up of her new store, gum tree. check out the newly-lauched site! gorgeous. www.gumtreela.com

i promise to post new photos and vids soon!
