our (benevolant?) dictator

when it comes to certain things, we walk on eggshells around grant. like breakfast, for instance.

"grant - you said you wanted a banana. do you want to eat it big or do you want me to cut it up?"
"big."
"do you want me to peel it for you or do you want to peel it yourself?"
"i want to peel it myself."
"can i start it for you? sometimes it's hard to start peeling."
"um...yes. you can start it for me."
"ok, here you go. i started it. now you peel it. now, your waffle. do you want syrup?"
"yes."
"yes PLEASE, mom."
"oKAY! [exhasperated] yes please mom."
"ok, syrup. do you want me to put it on your plate or into a little bowl?"
"a little bowl."
"a little bowl PLEASE. ok, here it is in a little bowl."
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! [shriek] not THAT bowl! i want the blue one!"
"which blue one?"
"the one that paigey was eating her puffs out of!"
"but that one is dirty."
"but i want it."

and even though there are 12 other already clean bowls in the cabinet, i take yesterday's dirty, nondescript blue bowl out of the dishwasher, clean it off, and fill it with syrup. because a mother's love knows no bounds. and because we all have to choose our battles.
