as far back as i can remember, santa's enormous motorized "sleigh" has been pulled by a team of glowing plastic reindeer (and a large diesel pick up) through the streets of manhattan beach, spreading holiday cheer and those itty-bitty candy canes that come cello-wrapped in one long string. and while the sleigh tradition continues to this day, complete with the flashing lights, christmas music and police escort of yesteryear, the candy canes sure have gotten bigger and fancier. what's that about?
